If this shortcut is used, skip to step 3. (Image 7)Īlternatively, the Essence can be reached by gliding onto a small green rock on the side of the cliff under the Essence, which brings you close enough to jump and pick it up automatically. Turn around and walk north until you come across a skeleton with a hand pointing over the edge. If you look above it, you'll notice an Oakheart's Essence which you need to get to but cannot currently reach. On the right in front of you is the first Refreshing Spring (the first checkpoint) - interacting with this grants you the special action skill Return to Checkpoint.Walk up the left edge to the highest point (Image 6A), and then use Oakheart's Reach (#3) on the cliff face opposite, with the aim of gliding into the planted area on the far side.Almost immediately after rounding the corner you will have to use Oakheart's Reach (#2) to reach the edge of the shiny volcano ledge on the right. (Image 5A) You need to use Oakheart's Reach (#1) on as high as possible above you, then glide to the right beneath the arch. Walk to the end of the next platform and look up.Glide over to the jutting out rocks on the next platform and carefully jump up the slope (this is tricky and may take a few attempts).Jump up the jutting out rocks and progress around the corner. Turn around to look to the north, and glide over to the platform above the next platform. At the edge of the next platform are some rocks jutting out from the rock face. Jump from the high point (at the right) to the low part of the next plateau (on the left).Jump around the first corner (to avoid slipping off the edge), and up onto the plateau. Be aware that wasting a single charge unnecessarily will mean you won't be able to reach the first checkpoint. Grab the Oakheart Essence at the start.Once landed, hop across the lava and travel up the ledge on the right side until you pass the diving goggles. From Heathen's Hold Waypoint - take the northwest thermal tube across. Please don’t do JP’s like Searing Ascent again.Spoiler alert: The hidden text contains spoilers relating to the route through the jumping puzzle. Not to mention a BS mechanic that makes a frustrating experience even worse. But bugs ruining the enjoyment of playing the game are a whole other issue, and that’s just not fun at all. I know what you’re thinking, “just don’t do it then.” Aside from the implication of discouraging people from doing in-game content, here’s the thing: if it were just confusing or challenging to navigate, that would be one thing. But you can hardly tell from where this random garbage that can screw up your whole run shows up until it happens.
SEARING ASCENT GW2 HOW TO
It’d be one thing if it were obvious where you needed to go, and it was just a matter of trial and error to figure out how to avoid this mechanic. Why the hell is there random lightning that screws you over? That’s got to be the dumbest part in the whole puzzle. WHY?!?!? The JP is already ridiculously frustrating enough trying to figure out where on earth you’re supposed to go. The absolute worst offender by far: the random bolts of lightning that knock you off your glider. And I was in the caverns right at the end, so I couldn’t even jump out and go back to the checkpoint. I didn’t even get the warning message that pops up before it happened. While the “Return to Checkpoint” skill is a good idea, apparently it’s pretty buggy because mine disappeared at some point after the third checkpoint. The jumping puzzle elements in tight spaces has worked well, the new mechanic does not.ģ. Aim wrong and you don’t even go as high as you should, and you have to start over again. Aim wrong and you bounce off the ceiling, wasting a charge and you have to start over again. Using the Oakheart Essences in tiny, cramped nooks is a buggy nightmare. “Path markers” only exist in the latter half of the puzzle, and even then they often lead you in the wrong direction.Ģ. It’s a monster of a headache to do even while following a guide. I’ve seen maybe half a dozen other players attempting the JP (a record low in my experience) due to issues like these:ġ. But let’s be real Searing Ascent is a mess. The new map looks fantastic, and exploring caves in a cavern ceiling is pretty neat.
